庞贝论坛项目的最新实地调查和研究使我们能够在以前对庞贝论坛研究总体状况的解释的背景下扩大和完善对庞贝论坛区域城市发展的理解（阿雅 117 [2013] 461–92）。 2001年，我们在论坛区进行了四次挖掘，以解决1997年我们的挖掘提出的问题（阿雅 102 [1998] 739–56）。两条战focused集中在阿波罗圣殿。这些呈现的信息很少，这里仅作简要介绍。更重要的是，阿彻·马丁（Archer Martin）完成了对我们1997年和2001年所有发掘陶器的分析。这支持在关键区域进行城市化的重新评估，包括在阿波罗圣殿中进行大量的奥古斯都阶段。我们在2001年的另外两个战trench更成功。大教堂旁边的一个人阐明了其建造做法，另一个人在奥古斯塔神庙（Fortuna Augusta）对面的维拉杜拉福图纳大街（Via della Fortuna）人行道上，加深了我们对这座庙宇的建造对其邻里的影响的理解。对于这两种方法，我们都可以更好地评估将如此大的公共建筑插入以前没有为此类结构提供资源的社区的城市化影响。
